Identify Your Business Location

Identify your business’ location. This location will be used to determine many things like the registrations required in the next few sections, sales tax collections, and much more. And be careful, if you try to run the business out of your home, you may violate HOA covenants, city ordinances, or code restrictions. Other locations must also allow for your type of business by commercial building code. (Also see section 18 below.)

a. Location, location, location. It’s been said for a long time that your location is critical to your business. Even in today’s online world, that remains largely true when the customers will need to come to you. They want to come to a convenient, safe, clean location. So, if you will have customers visit you, these things are very important!

b. You will need to secure your intended location with a lease or deposit as required so you have an address to use for the activities below.

c. Make sure the location has sufficient space to support your intended staff and inventory or other storage requirements as determined in the previous sections. You may also want some extra space for expansion of your business later.
