Finish Your Website

You should have already obtained your domain name(s), and hopefully, you have or your developer has been building your website(s).  So now you need to get your website up and running. It’s time to publish it and turn it on!  If not, you’d better get rolling on it! It takes some time for a website to become productive with organic searches. So, you may need to use advertising on Google Ads to get things moving. That is not cheap! But, it works!

a. If you are using Pressable as recommended for your hosting service, you will need to go into Pressable and add your primary domain into the Domains area and make sure it is set as primary.

b. If you are using Namecheap for your domain registration as recommended, you will need to go into your DNS management on Namecheap and add the Pressable name server addresses as follows:

    • openhostingservice.com
    •
    • openhostingservice.com
    •
    • openhostingservice.com
    •
    • openhostingservice.com
    •
    • openhostingservice.com

c. It may take a little while for DNS to catch up with the change. But check to make sure your primary domain is reachable from your browser.

d. You will need to add a SSL certificate to your site. Add the plugin “Really Simple SSL” to your Pressable WordPress site and activate it.  Go to settings and make sure it’s turned on.  Pressable WordPress sites come with a free SSL certificate.

e. You will need to disconnect the staging domain from Elementor Pro and Yoast SEO Pro and add in the live domain to both. Go to those respective sites to do that.

f. You will need to update the URL in Elementor “Tools” to the new live domain.

g. If you are using WooCommerce, you may need to configure MailPoet to send your emails from your site. Go to the plugin and the “Settings” option to do that.

h. Go to search.google.com and setup your domain as a property. Then go to “Sitemaps.”  Enter your domain plus, “sitemap.xml” into the sitemaps. This will get you found on Google faster, and it will give you access to reporting on Google Search.
